HOW PROYECTO LEGACY BEGAN
What started as an assignment in treatment became a promise. That promise became a mission. That mission became Proyecto Legacy.
THE PROMISE
When I entered treatment, I expected to fight for my own recovery. Instead, I left with an assignment. If I was given the opportunity to rebuild my life, I would help build a path for the people coming behind me. That promise became Proyecto Legacy.
THE DISCOVERY
As treatment came to an end, I watched grown men and women struggle with the same question: What happens next?They had fought hard to get clean, but many had no housing, no transportation, no employment, and no clear path forward. The structure, accountability, and support they depended on were about to disappear. That’s when I realized the challenge wasn’t getting people clean. It was helping them navigate what comes after.
THE RELEASE GAP
People leave treatment carrying hope, momentum, and a second chance. Then they’re expected to find housing, work, transportation, meetings, rebuild relationships, and stay accountable on their own. For many, the structure that helped them get well disappears in a matter of days. That space between treatment and lasting stability is where too many people are lost. We call that space the Relapse Gap.
THE VISION
Proyecto Legacy was created to close that gap. Not by replacing treatment, but by extending the support people need after treatment ends. A place where recovery can continue through housing, accountability, transportation, employment readiness, recovery support, and family restoration.
THE FIRST FOUNDATION SITE
The first Foundation Site will serve 16 residents and prove that recovery can continue when people are given the time, structure, and opportunity to rebuild. One location. One model. One bridge between treatment and independent living.
THE LONG-TERM GOAL
The goal was never to build a house. The goal is to build a Recovery Navigation System that can be replicated wherever the Relapse Gap exists. If it works for 16 people, it can work for 50. If it works for 50, it can work for 200. If it works in one city, it can work anywhere.
THE REAL GOAL
Recovery changes one life.
Restoration can change generations.
